OVERVIEW OF MENDIKOT

Mendikot is a trick-taking card game playable by 4 players in teams of 2. The goal of the game is to win more rounds than your opponents.

Players win round by taking more tens in tricks than the other players.

SETUP

The first dealer is chosen at random and after the first round, the dealer will be one of the players from the losing team.

The dealer shuffles the deck and allows an opponent to cut the deck. Then the dealer deals each player a hand of 13 cards.

After hands are dealt players will need to determine trump. The process chosen to do so should be determined and agreed upon before the start of the game. there are three options for deciding trump.

The first option is to have the dealer before dealing out hands to flip the top card of the deck. This cards suit becomes trump. The dealer will then shuffle the deck again before dealing.

The second option is for the player to the dealer’s right to pick. They will choose a card from their hand and place it face down on the table. Its suit will become trump and is not shown until later in the round.

The third option is to choose trump later in the round. the trump is determined once a player is not able to follow suit in the round. the player will then play any card from their hand to the trick and the suit of that card becomes trump for the remainder of the round.

Card Ranking

The ranking is traditional with Ace (high), King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 (low).

GAMEPLAY

The game starts with the player to the dealer’s right. They may lead any card they wish. All the following players must follow suit if able. If they cannot follow suit, they may play any card they wish.

The trick is won by the highest trump 스포츠토토 , if applicable, or by the highest card of the suit led if no trumps were played. The winner collects the trick and places it in their score pile. they also lead the next trick.

If playing with option two for trump declaration, then there are two versions of the game that can be played. The version used should be chosen and agreed upon before the game begins.

The first version says that once a player is not able to follow suit the facedown card is revealed, and trumps are not declared. The card is returned to the player’s hand, and the player not able to follows suit may continue with their turn, playing any card they wish to.

The second version allows the player not able to follows suit, the option to ask for the trump suit before playing their card to the trick. If it is asked for it is revealed as above in the first version with a few modifications. The player who asks for trump must play a trump, if they have one, to the trick, and any card of the trump suit played before the card revealed do not count as trumps, only those played after.

SCORING

Once all the tricks are played and scored the players will look through their score piles. A team that has 3 or more of the 10s wins the round. if both teams only have 2 10s then the teams that won more of the tricks during the round win. Wins can be scored as a point if players wish to keep track of scores for a winner.

END OF GAME

The game ends whenever players wish for it too. Traditionally there is not a structured scoring system meant to declare a winner. Players just play to win round and do not typically keep track.
